Up at 6:00 and away by 7:00. Good progress for the first 2 hours and then the rain started. Hard going mostly low ratio, through 6 inch deep water for up to half a mile at a time. Rain eased for lunch and then started again - very heavy indeed. Got stuck - Nick's directions along a different track to the one I was taking sank us up to the axles in the sand.Waited until the rain eased.
In the Sahara! Rain! I would rather take my vacation in sunny England.
Stuck again in another half mile , this time in water 6 inches deep.
Backed out and camped on a slight rise.Thunder and lightening. Hope we
are not struck out here in the desert, the only metal object for miles around.

Actually though I have quite enjoyed today. At last a bit of adventure as we have come through water which we most certainly cannot go back through for a few days and may well have difficulty going further on. It is raining quite heavily now (21:00)
