Got up at 06:30 in the hope of starting immediately after we got our money.
Had to refit exhaust tailpipe. Eventually left at 10:00.
Had breakfast of bread,cheese, chocolate and orange drinks as we drove.
Road good but bumpy to start with and then was just a marked sand track.
The track had ridges along it and we found it best to drive along side the track.
Stopped for lunch next to a marker.At about 18:00 we lost the track and went onto the wrong one. Eventually we found the tarred road, coming to it from the west and not on to the end of it.
Arrived at Guelta Zemmur at 21:00 and stayed in one of the military police rooms (jail?). Met a German lad whow was teaching the Captain German for 6000 pts/week.
The Captain shot a donkey during the night. Had beer and cake good wash and sleep.
The village consisted entirely of the army.
Saw the phosphate mines but we wer not allowed in.
